Mini Shipsterns was photographed in La Jolla, California at local shore break spot early one winter morning in 2016. This image highly resembles a wave that breaks in Tasmania called Shipsterns that can get waves up to 50 feet high. This particular type of wave is called a quadruple-up since there are 4 waves breaking atop one another. This happens when water moves fast from deep to shallow.
